When it comes to spiritual gifts, none are more important than any other, but some are more essential to the life of the church. As we know, a body cannot live without a heart, but it can live without an arm. It just won't function as well. In the same way, the church can't live without apostles, but it can live without those speaking in different kinds of tongues. It just won't function as well.
Some questions for thought:
If God appointed apostle as the most essential gift in the life of the church, do you know what that gift is and how it is supposed to function?
Are you experiencing this gift in operation in your church life?

wow, this is a great post! Is this from the book "How Big SHould A Church Be"? I'm fascinated to hear more, and I'm fascinated to hear the answers to the questions at the end of the post, too.

joanne-
I wasn't aware there was such a book. I will be sure to put it on my list though. Thanks for the compliment.
