Everyone needs a
preparation time. A season when one gets
to know God; His voice, His presence, His economy, His Kingdom, His will, His
eternal purpose, His cross. Remember,
it’s only in Him that all wisdom and knowledge is hidden. (Colossians
2:2-3) And He is sufficient for us
in Himself. We need nothing more and
nothing less.
But getting to
this point takes time in what blogger David D. Flowers calls the “Living Room
of Faith” so that God can put you on the “Couch
of Completion.” This is the time
where you are getting to know the Lord intimately. You are NOT memorizing a bunch of information
about Him. You are getting to know the
PERSON Himself.
Without this
preparation, there is no fruitful ministry.
For ministry is born out of intimacy with Christ. Much of what we call “ministry” is a bunch of
knowledge and talent putting on a show.
True ministry is giving a revelation of Jesus Christ and teaching others
how to be intimate with Him. This cannot
be learned in a book and can only be taught by someone who’s experienced it.
Most seasoned,
mature Christians agree, this preparation time is rarely over before one
reaches 40, especially in which is arguably the most spiritually immature
church on the planet (American). The Lord wasn't even ready for public ministry until He turned 30.
It’s
time for these 20 and 30-something brothers and sisters to spend time and gain
experience with the Lord and His people before they rush into building for the
Lord, lest they labor in vain teaching that which they know not much about and
doing more harm than good.
